UDL provides a blueprint for creating instructional goals, methods, materials, and assessments that work for everyone. It was put into place to eliminate barriers that can be created during a lesson. It gives the opportunity for all students to have equal learning. A barrier is something that comes in-between the learner and the task they're trying to achieve. There are no advantages or disadvantages during a UDL lesson. UDL has accessible resources that can be used for students whom are disabled but also manageable for all learners.
CAST:
People can use UDL to their own unique preference to learning. Like I previously said, UDL emphasizes on eliminating any kind of barriers for students that hinders their learning. Teachers need to be mindful of this problem while also being mindful of the learning environment. All teachers should take into consideration the teaching space, the physical location of student placement, and the flexible resources such as digital technology. We need to make our classroom and lesson enjoyable. We need to make sure that every student is fully engaged in the lesson.
CAST:
- Representation - give learners various information and knowledge (graphics)
- Action and Expression - provides alternative for demonstrating (feedback)
- Engagement - focus on learners interest and what motivates them (activities)
